Traveling with your pets is often an added stress to an already stressful process, especially when it is the busiest travel holiday of the year ? Thanksgiving. With many families starting to plan for travel during the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, Heidi Ganahl, the CEO and founder of?Camp Bow Wow, has created a list of ?Tips For Easy Travels With Pets? in order to make the process easier on you, your family, and your pet?:

1)???????Check all airline requirements before boarding a plane. See if your pet can travel in a carrier that can be kept under a seat in the cabin or if your pet must travel by freight.

2)???????Familiarize your pet with its carrier. Pets like familiarity. If you plan on keeping your pet inside a carrier while traveling, allow your pet to get used to the environment by placing it in the carrier for a few minutes each day. Gradually lengthen the time until your pet seems at ease with being placed in the carrier.

3)???????Don?t try sneaking your pet on the plane. Although it may seem like a good idea if your pet is small enough to fit in a carrier beneath your seat, do not sneak animals of any size on a plane. There will be repercussions for doing so. Instead, look into travel alternatives such as Pet Airways, which was created specifically for traveling with pets. Although routes are limited, traveling on pet-friendly airlines may reduce times that pets are required to be in a carrier.

4)???????Feed your pet no less than five or six hours before flight time. Give the pet a drink of water no less than two hours before flight. It is very easy for your dog or cat to become sick in transition.

5)???????Find a hotel that will allow your pet to spend the night. Most pet-friendly hotels will not allow pets to be left in the room alone, so also consider taking your dog to a nearby?Camp Bow Wow doggie day care facility if you want to do things during the day. It will cost less than paying for damage incurred by leaving a dog along in a hotel room.

6)???????Make the animal feel at home. Use familiar dishes, blankets, toys and other items from your home to create a sense of comfort for your pet.

Liberian election under cloud after boycott (Reuters)

MONROVIA (Reuters) ? Liberia's main opposition candidate said he might seek the annulment of a presidential run-off boycotted by his supporters, raising the prospect of confrontation in a country recovering from civil war.

Many Liberians stayed home for Tuesday's vote, either fearful of a repeat of election-related violence earlier this week or obeying a boycott call by Winston Tubman, the main rival to incumbent Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Tubman alleged fraud in the first round of voting last month from which Johnson-Sirleaf, a newly-named Nobel peace laureate, emerged with an 11-point lead.

"We will not accept the result. We told them we were not voting and they went ahead and placed our photos on the ballot papers. Not only (opposition) CDC people boycotted but many Liberians were listening to us," Tubman, who was a top aide to former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, said on Wednesday.

Tubman told Reuters he would consider a legal challenge to annul the results of the second round.

"I think that is a possibility, and could be the most comprehensive way of addressing this conflict," he said.

"I will never call for war on the government. We have been through war that killed 300,000 people. We do not want to go down that path again."

The National Election Commission said it would begin releasing results from the second round late on Thursday.

The election is the first locally organised presidential vote in Liberia since 14 years of fighting that killed nearly a quarter of a million people ended in 2003. The United Nations staged a poll in 2005 which also ended in a dispute.

Liberia wants to use its iron and other resource wealth to rebuild. Critics of Johnson-Sirleaf, Africa's first freely elected female head of state, say progress in her first term was too slow.

British oil firm Tullow Oil, announcing long-awaited results from its offshore Liberian well Montserrado, said on Wednesday that it had found oil there but not in commercial quantities.

As election officials set about counting votes, shops opened and traffic was normal in downtown Monrovia on Wednesday. But there was a sense of unease.

"I feel very bad about the election. I was not satisfied and the CDC will not accept the result," said James Freeman, a 37-year-old CDC supporter.

BOYCOTT CALL CRITICIZED

One organization tracking the vote, the Liberia Democratic Institute, said on Tuesday turnout could have been as low as 25-35 percent, less than half the 71 percent recorded in the first round when Liberians queued in the rain to cast votes.

Such a low turnout could undermine Johnson-Sirleaf's authority during a second term and might even prompt her to open a dialogue with Tubman, analysts said.

Boys hawked newspapers bearing headlines like "Victory?" and "Voters defy threats with calm and courage." Many ran front-page photographs of victims from clashes on Monday between riot police and opposition protesters in which at least two died.

Tubman has accused Liberian police of trying to kill him during the clash which occurred around, and later within, his party headquarters. He alleged that one of his bodyguards "died blocking a bullet that was aimed at me."

He said the incident made prospects for a power-sharing deal with Johnson-Sirleaf "unlikely, if not impossible."

Johnson-Sirleaf took nearly 44 percent of the first round vote on October 11. Tubman took some 33 percent but withdrew from the race last week and called for a boycott.

Tubman had said he would only be willing to participate in a second round if it were delayed by two to four weeks and if counting procedures were amended.

International election observers called the October 11 first round vote mostly free and fair. The United States, the United Nations, regional bloc ECOWAS and the African Union have criticized Tubman's decision to boycott the second round.

Herman Cain defends character at debate (Reuters)

ROCHESTER, Michigan (Reuters) ? Herman Cain defended his character in a debate of Republican presidential contenders on Wednesday, saying Americans "deserve better" than the controversy over sexual harassment allegations against him.

Cain, the former head of Godfather's Pizza, has kept his spot near the front of the Republican race despite accusations by four women, which he has denied.

He said the controversy had not dented voter enthusiasm for his campaign to face President Barack Obama in the November 2012 election.

"The American people deserve better than someone being tried in the court of public opinion based on unfounded accusations," Cain said in the debate at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

"They don't care about character assassination, they care about leadership and getting the country going," he said to cheers from the audience.

The controversy, lingering for more than a week, has taken Cain off his campaign message and eroded favorable voter perceptions but he is still Mitt Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts who leads the Republican pack.

Cain's difficulties could open the door for one of the other candidates battling for the allegiance of conservatives in the hopes of becoming the clear alternative to the more moderate Romney.

The question from a moderator about the allegations drew boos from the audience at the debate, which was focused on economic issues. Romney was cheered when he declined to wade in when asked if he would hire an executive facing similar allegations.

The Republican hopefuls also denounced government bailouts for corporations and other countries and said they would not come to the financial rescue of Italy.

"It doesn't make any difference whether it's Wall Street or some corporate entity or some European country -- if you are too big to fail, you are too big," Texas Governor Rick Perry said.

Romney, whose father was a former Michigan governor and a former auto executive, defended his opposition to the 2009 auto industry bailout that helped revive Michigan-based General Motors and Chrysler.

"It was the wrong way to go," he said, adding he preferred letting the companies go into a structured bankruptcy.

Democrats hope the auto industry issue will be a potent one for Obama if he meets Romney in the 2012 election. All of the other Republican contenders also opposed the bailout.

The economic struggles in Michigan, which has seen its manufacturing base hit hard by the economic downturn, will serve as a backdrop to the debate.

The unemployment rate of 11.1 percent in Michigan is the third-highest in the country and well above the 9 percent national rate.

Sex was all up in "Glee" on Tuesday night, as two couples took things to the next level in an episode appropriately titled "The First Time."

The coitus will surely complicate Finn and Rachel's situation, while it brought Kurt and Blaine closer than ever. For the second week in a row, "Glee" introduced a new character. This one's named Sebastian, played by Grant Gustin, an aggressive new Warbler with one mission: Snatch Blaine away from Kurt.

Yes, Karofsky returned for a brief scene in a gay bar, and yes, Coach Bieste now has a love interest, and yes, Mike Chang's dad cut him off for performing "West Side Story" with his castmates. But let's face it: All anyone's talking about is the dirty deed.

HAVANA ? Raul Castro's daughter and an anti-government Cuban blogger have engaged in a prickly back-and-forth on Twitter, which has a small but growing presence on the island despite scarce Internet connectivity.

Mariela Castro's debut on the social media service began smoothly enough when she sent her first tweets Tuesday talking about a visit to the Netherlands and her work as the country's leading gay rights activist.

Then dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez fired the first salvo.

"They tell me Mariela Castro opened a Twitter account," Sanchez wrote. "A question for her, `When will we Cubans be able to come out of other closets?'"

Two more tweets directed at the first daughter quickly followed: "Welcome to the plurality of Twitter ... here nobody can shut me up, deny me permission to travel or impede entrance," and "How can one ask for acceptance only in one area? Is tolerance total or not?"

Castro, who is the head the National Sex Education Center, shot back at Sanchez by name, saying, "Your approach to tolerance reproduces the old mechanisms of power. To improve your `services' you should study."

Later, she grumbled about "despicable parasites" criticizing her on Twitter: "Were you ordered by your employers to respond to me in unison and with the same predetermined script? Be creative."

Cuba accuses dissidents like Sanchez of being mercenaries in the hire of Washington.

On Wednesday Sanchez tweeted, "I would love it if everyone on the (Communist Party's) Central Committee got on Twitter. We would tell them in the virtual world what they don't let us in the real one."

"Good for them to get practice with plurality starting now on Twitter, soon the day will arrive when they will have to deal with it in reality," read a second missive.

Their exchange is unlikely to be noticed by many in Cuba, where the decades-old U.S. economic embargo has left the island without a hardwired Internet connection to the rest of the world.

Cuba relies on plodding, expensive satellite service and Internet access is rare and costly, though hopes for faster service arrived earlier this year along with an undersea fiber-optic cable from Venezuela.

Authorities previously said the cable could be operational as early as July, but there has been no official word since and no noticeable improvement in Internet speeds.

Marc Jacobs perfume ad banned in UK (AP)

LONDON ? Britain's advertising standards watchdog on Wednesday banned a Marc Jacobs perfume ad starring actress Dakota Fanning, saying it seemed to sexualize a child and could cause serious offense.

Four readers complained about the magazine ad for Jacobs' recently launched "Oh, Lola!" perfume, the Advertising Standards Authority said. The ad showed the 17-year-old star in a pale short dress, sitting with an oversized perfume bottle ? which is shaped like a vase holding a giant red flower ? between her legs.

The watchdog said that Fanning looked under 16 years old in the ad, and the styling in the image drew attention to her sexuality.

"Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child," it said.

Perfume maker Coty UK said it had not received any complaints. It said that the ad was targeted at readers over 25 years old, and that while the image was provocative, it wasn't indecent. Most magazine readers would be used to "edgy images" in fashion magazines and are not likely to find the ad offensive, it added.

Fanning is best known as a child actress in movies including "I am Sam" and Steven Spielberg's TV series "Taken."

Iran Guard says will retaliate if leaders killed (AP)

TEHRAN, Iran ? An Iranian semi-official news agency says that a top commander in the country's Revolutionary Guard force has threatened to kill "dozens" of American military commanders, should the U.S. kill any one of theirs.

"You also should not forget that American commanders have plenty of presence and travel in the region. If you kill any of us, we will kill dozens of you," Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, chief of the Guards' aerospace division, was quoted by Fars agency on Tuesday as saying.

Earlier last week several American neoconservatives, including retired U.S. Army general Jack Keane, urged the Obama administration to use covert action against Iran and target members of the Quds Force, the Guard's special foreign actions unit.
