Throughout my entire life I?ve always told myself that I wanted to do something good for the world, specifically to engage in philanthropy or give to charity. But as we all do, I often found myself too busy with daily tasks ? work, family, etc. This year, however, I have vowed to change that and I ask you to join me, and my campaign team, in any way you possibly can. I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help the more than 912.000 Americans who are living with cancer by participating as a candidate for the Man and Woman of the Year Campaign to stamp out the disease. The campaign is backed by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. During this campaign from March 31 ? June 11, my goal is to raise 0000 which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. I am dedicating my campaign first and foremost to children like Ryan Darby (7) and Molly Farrell (5) who are diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma respectively, but I am also dedicating this campaign to my wife?s mother, Martha Tonjes Hart, who passed away as a result of breast cancer when Teresa was only twelve. Like many of you, I have witnessed first hand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma ? all forms of cancer, can have on those who suffer from these diseases and on the friends and ?
