WASHINGTON (AP) ? Some of President Barack Obama's nominees to the National Labor Relations Board are coming under criticism from Senate Republicans.
The board has been at an impasse since January. That's when a federal appeals court said the president violated the Constitution by filling board vacancies without Senate confirmation.
At a confirmation hearing Thursday, critics denounced Obama's decision to seek full terms for two board members he installed with recess appointments last year.
Republicans claim the board has no legitimacy to act and demand that the two recess appointees step down. The appointees have declined.
Obama also renominated board chairman Mark Pearce for another full term. All three are Democrats.
