39% Of Men First To Say 'I Love You' In Relationships - UK Wedding ...

08/03/2013
A new study has found that women take longer to say 'I Love You' in a relationship than men.

The research, which was carried out by YouGov for online dating site eHarmony, found out men only take 88 days to tell their partner they love them.

This compares to 134 days for women.

The figures also revealed 39% of men say 'I Love You' within the first month of seeing someone, compared to just 23% of women.

A further 33% of men said they had met the family of their partner within the first month of dating, compared to 25% of women surveyed.

Men were also shown to be more committed when it came to living arrangements with 33% stating they moved in with their partner within the first month of dating. In addition, over three-quarters of men refuted the belief that they are bad at remembering important dates and anniversaries in a relationship.

Jenni Trent Hughes, a relationship advice expert for eHarmony, said the figures revealed how many traditional ideas of men being 'commitmentphobes' are out of date.

She said: "After centuries of women questioning the reluctance of men to commit or be romantic, it seems that we may just have been wrong all along! Boys are softies and can be way mushier than us girls.

"Realistically, and physiologically speaking, the average man tends to be more focused and task oriented than the average woman. They establish a goal and set out to accomplish it at all costs, be that running the marathon in less than three hours or wooing the girl of their dreams."

The study also revealed young people between the ages of 18 and 24 were the slowest age group to hold hands and share a first kiss. However they were also the fastest to consider themselves in an exclusive relationship, with 39% saying they were 'exclusive' after one week of dating.
