Safety At Workplace - 5 Important Factors To Consider

Every factory owner wants to know how to extract maximum productivity from their workers. And even if the factory were running round the clock, the management would still want more that what the workers produce. However, in order to keep the flow at its optimal best, you will need healthy and highly motivated workers who are protected from any possibility of falling and injuring themselves. It is a good idea to have a good quality fall protection and rail guard immediately.

At the workplace one need to take the necessary precautions that safety measures are adhered to, not only to ensure the highest level of productivity but also to make sure that no one is hurt in the process. There are many safety measures that can keep the worker safe while promoting maximum productivity levels.

1. Safety against machinery Today, most factories or plants are automated. They run with the help of computers and are manned by trained staff. There are safety measures that would ensure the stopping of the machine in the event it causes harm to a human being, say like electrocution, pulling in clothes or hair, running too fast or running too slow, etc. People are also trained about what to wear and how to behave around such machines to prevent accidents.

2. Safety against fire the most dreaded of all man-made disasters is fire. Safety measures here among others, includes drills, fire-retardant clothes, fire extinguishers, overhead automatic water sprinklers and so on.

3. Safety against falls in places where workers need to climb heights to work, safety measures would include safety lines, helmets, rail guards and other similar protective measures that would limit the risk of falling to the minimum.

4. Safety against chemical spillage and poisoning most factories generate some or other type of pollutants. There are measures that protect people from chemical spillage and reactions. These should include a proper first aid kit; special clothing and drills that have people use special masks in case of negative reactions or spillage, and so on.

5. Safety against accidents in general any workplace not only factories can be a potential accident place. Most offices are insured against accidents which provide any person who suffered an accident on the office premises best medical care and financial compensation commensurate to the injury suffered.

Ensuring safety is not necessary only at the workplace, but also at home and while commuting to work. You need to take precautions to see that you and your family are safe at home as you are when you move from one place to another. This includes some of the following:

- fire and burglar alarms at home

- making it a habit to lock the back doors and all windows at night

- checking door before turning in

- never leaving keys in the car or on table where easily accessible from the window

- teaching children how to react when stranger adults approach them

- carrying some form of protection in purse/ handbag for women
